| Why Healing Rooms? |
| Background: In 2002, I started reading a book on the life and sermons of John G. Lake. This book has transformed my life and thinking. Reverend Lake was called of God to set up “Healing Rooms” in Spokane, Washington in the early 1900’s. Within five years, there were over 100,000 documented healings from the Healing Rooms, I was able to see that healing was part of our atonement and redemption. Isaiah 53 states: “3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, Smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed. 6 All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him.” If we accept verse 6 as pertaining to salvation, then we must accept verse 4 as pertaining to healing. (The word here translated as griefs is the Hebrew word that means sickness or disease, and the word sorrows means pain.) This concept caused me to want to open healing rooms like the ones Rev. Lake opened. It was a very strong desire, that I have shared with my pastor and others. And like all desires like this I put it down until the Lord brings it back up again. This He did, when He showed me that the Healing Rooms in Spokane, Washington had been REOPENED!! God had moved on a man from Bethel Assembly of God in Redding, California to move to Spokane and there Reverend Cal Pierce in 1999 reopened the Healing Rooms. I, along with six others from New Hope, went to Spokane in early March and visited the Healing Rooms. I believe that we ALL came away with a calling to do the same here in Pahrump. Reason: The healing room concept is to have an area in a neutral place that the whole body of Christ can come and minister in, AND that those who would not come into a church of another denomination would feel free to come into. It is set up similar to a doctors office where the person comes, signs in, and goes to a waiting room (we call it the "Soaking Room") to wait. The "Team" then takes the information sheet of that person and privately prays, asking God how to specifically pray for that person. The Team then calls that person in and prays as God has directed. |
